FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that utilises the creative process of making art to improve mental and emotional well-being. Through various artistic mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, or other creative activities, individuals can explore and express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a non-verbal and often symbolic manner.
What is the purpose of an Art Therapist?
Trained art therapists guide and facilitate creative activities, helping individuals gain insights into their emotions, reduce stress, improve self-esteem, and address psychological challenges.
Who can benefit from Art Therapy?
Art therapy can be used with people of all ages and backgrounds and is particularly beneficial for those who may find it difficult to express themselves verbally. It is employed in clinical settings, schools, rehabilitation centres, and community programs to promote healing and personal growth.
Do you provide Art Therapy sessions?
I won't become a fully qualified art therapist until 2024, but I have already incorporated art therapy strategies into my creative workshops. Private sessions will be available by early to mid-2024.
What do your workshops entail?
Each workshop is unique, catering to various aspects and allowing the exploration of different areas of interest. Each workshop will have either of the following to begin with that will go for 20-30 minutes
-
Meditation
-
Breathwork
-
Affirmation setting
After completing the above, we will take a moment to acknowledge our feelings and write down what we experienced or thoughts that have come to mind. There will then be an opportunity for individuals to share what they have experienced (there is no pressure to share)

Next, we will move on to the creative project. Each workshop will have a different project. The project aims to allow creativity to flow from each individual in their way.
I will be there every step of the way to offer guidance, support and a listening ear.

Snacks and light refreshments will also be available whilst we delve into the creative project!
What happens if I become emotional during a workshop?
It is common for individuals to become emotional during the workshops - particularly during or after meditation or writing about what was experienced and felt. It is essential to acknowledge what we are experiencing during those moments to validate how we are feeling or what we have experienced. There is space for you to step to the side, away from everyone, if you would like a moment alone, talk to a friend or one of the other participants or with me. We are working within a safe space, and I will endeavour to create that at every moment.
Can I book therapy sessions with you after the workshop?
At this stage, I am not qualified to offer Art Therapy sessions under the state of law. However, Sam from Empowered Holistic Counselling & Wellness (where we are hosting the workshops) is a trained counsellor, and her service details will be available to everyone who attends. I offer mentoring sessions if you seek guidance or a place to start your healing journey.
What kind of practices are involved in your mentoring sessions?
My mentoring sessions have been developed through my deep shadow work and inner child healing. Methods that work for some may not work for others, so I designed the Discovery Call, which can be a one-off session or a payment plan.
Some individuals may know precisely what they need to work on, but they have no idea where to start. Others may need help figuring out what to work on or where to start. The Discovery Call will allow you to speak on whatever comes to mind.
During this process, I will ask specific questions and take notes on what and how the questions are answered. From there, we will discuss how and what has come up and see what resonates the most. After the session, I will create a private file for you that can be accessed through my website within your profile. Your profile will contain our session details and any ideas on prompts, work or links that would suit you. These are available for download and print and are yours to keep.
Are you a psychic?
No, I am not a psychic in the sense that I can see your future or surroundings.
Over the years, I have worked on my intuitive gifts and energetic blueprint. Over time, I have developed my intuitive guidance to process what our collective is experiencing and navigating. Through this, I can transmute what we are collectively going through, process, heal and offer understanding to those around me and at a distance. Through grounding and continuous shadow work, I can empathise with individuals and feel as they feel. The Clair senses I have are as follows.

-
Clairsalience - a clear sense of smell, i.e., detecting information nasally.
-
Clairaudience - a clear sense of hearing, i.e., being able to detect information through the ears.
-
Claircognizance - a clear sense of knowing, i.e., intuition and insight.
-
Clairsentience - a clear sense of feeling, i.e., being able to detect psychic information through your body.
-
Clairempathy - a clear sense of emotional feeling, i.e., detecting information through your emotions.
Over time, my Clair's above have developed and strengthened through learning, grounding, healing and experiencing. We are all capable of experiencing one, a few or even all of the 8 Clairs - we are energetic beings, after all.

What is Shadow Work?
Shadowwork is a psychological and spiritual concept that explores and integrates one's hidden or unconscious aspects. The term was popularised by the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, who believed that the "shadow" represents the repressed or denied elements of the personality. These parts are often deemed unacceptable or incompatible with one's self-image.
Here are critical aspects of shadow work and how it can be beneficial:
-
Exploring the Unconscious: The unconscious mind holds thoughts, feelings, and memories that are not readily accessible to conscious awareness. Shadow work involves delving into these hidden aspects to uncover suppressed emotions, desires, fears, and unresolved issues.
-
Facing and Accepting Darker Aspects: The shadow often contains elements that are considered harmful, such as anger, jealousy, greed, or other aspects of the self that may be judged or rejected. Shadow's work encourages acknowledging and accepting these darker aspects without judgment.
-
Integration and Wholeness: The goal of shadow work is not to eliminate or eradicate the shadow but to integrate its contents into one's conscious awareness. By doing so, individuals can achieve greater wholeness and authenticity.
-
Personal Growth and Transformation: Engaging in shadow work can lead to personal growth and transformation. By addressing and integrating previously unconscious aspects, individuals may experience increased self-awareness, emotional resilience, and a deeper understanding of themselves.
-
Improving Relationships: Unresolved issues within the shadow can influence interpersonal relationships. Shadowwork helps individuals recognise and address patterns that may negatively impact their connections with others. Improved self-awareness can lead to healthier and more fulfilling relationships.
-
Reducing Projection: Projection occurs when individuals unconsciously attribute their unacknowledged qualities or emotions to others. Shadow work helps recognise and own these projections, leading to a more accurate understanding of oneself and others.
-
Spiritual Growth: In spiritual traditions, shadow work is often seen as a path to spiritual growth and enlightenment. By facing and integrating the shadow, individuals may experience a deeper connection with their spiritual selves and a greater sense of purpose.
-
Increased Emotional Resilience: Integrating the shadow can result in increased emotional resilience. By facing and processing challenging emotions, individuals become more adept at navigating life's ups and downs.
It's important to note that shadow work is a deeply personal and ongoing process. It can take various forms, including therapy, journaling, meditation, and introspective practices. While it can be challenging, many people find that engaging in shadow work leads to a more authentic and fulfilling life. It's often recommended to undertake shadow work under the guidance of a trained therapist or counsellor, especially when addressing deeply rooted issues.
